The short answer is: Probably.

I'd give it 80 +% that this is his final year with the Rams. You can't pay everybody. And the NT position is not a position of priority for the Rams as long as Aaron Donald is around. Yes he is versatile, but that doesn't mean that he plays the other spots as well as he plays NT.

Just as what happened with Littleton and McCleod, SJD will go somewhere else for large dollars and be only an adequate player UNLESS he is on a Dline with a star player that commands double and triple teams. He's not the kind of player that makes others around him better (as does AD). He's a hard worker, of good size, active. He mans his position well. But he will likely attract dollars far beyond his worth to the Rams. Gaines is here as his replacement and I see Gaines as getting a lot of reps this year in a SJD type of role.
