I doubt Big Whit will end up in the HOF. But, he is a good and consistent LOT. It's his leadership that has had such a positive effect not on only the Oline, but also the entire team. I have no doubt that when he retires the Rams will work hard to keep him on the staff... if he even wants that. I think he could be a TV announcer, and a darn good one; but might not want that because he's such a family man.

Honestly, I think Big Whit's amazing leadership saved us from Goff's lack of leadership for some time. Goff just didn't have it. He seemed too much like a laid back, little bit overwhelmed, surfer dude. His demeanor, his words, everything. You want to understand the team and what is really going down? You talked to Whit, not to Jared Goff. I don't think I ever heard of Goff being the guy the team looked to, or sought out for wisdom or for direction. On good teams the QB is usually the face of the Franchise .... not the LOT.

This is why McVay has regularly expressed his optimism (relief?) in Stafford's leadership. Stafford's ex-teammates were effusive over his leadership and how he was the go-to guy to buoy the team and to lead by example.

We should never underestimate the power of leadership. Or the problem that the lack of leadership can cause. With Whit just one season from retirement, thank gosh Stafford has arrived to replenish team leadership in his absence.
