So I feel like the guy definitely has enough talent to win a key role in this defense. Whoever wins the job opposite Fuller will be the guy who makes the least mistakes and who gets the best jump in terms of anticipation and decision making.
He was reportedly intercepting the ball last year in camp on a couple occasions iirc. So I feel like our safety room is 4 deep. It's a really good group. Nothing would surprise me in terms of who wins the job.
I will add that if Rapp can't win a role then I will be wondering why they didn't try to move him in trade. The guy is a plus SS in a number of schemes. If we're going mostly quarters looks again and he can't adjust to that then that question will loom in my mind at least. Also it wouldn't surprise me if Rapp ends up playing some ILB i.e. a permanent big nickel role. I think he's a better box impact than Howard because he can actually cover a bit in man.
Either way a lot of different ways they can go on defense. Just a ton of unknowns and the Rams have not said much to clear up the questions. So I eagerly await preseason though even that might be misleading in terms of what percentages they run different coverages.
