Of course you're right.
At the moment, Stafford is the Ram's offensive crown jewel. The guy McVay believes is his Holy Grail. No way he lets him play a down in the preseason.
Under McVay, preseason games are when 2nd and 3rd teamers get a chance to get some game experience and for someone to really jump out.
In the Scrimmages he can play against other D's, and will wear the Red Shirt like all QBs do. So only the freakiest of things could happen to him.
I've always agreed with McVay's preseason game philosophy. Even if the team isn't fully revved up for game 1, September isn't when you get into the playoffs.
