My first reaction after reading the article title was the same as yours.
But after reading the breakdown within the article I’m not so sure.
This was written by an amateur although it had some good points.
It was based on stats and projecting their rushing yards based on hypotheticals.
Henderson was off and running in his second season as a professional but faded due to injury reasons and some other reasons if you paid attention to their best attributes from the 2020 season.
I was excited by his 2020 start but Akers showed why he was the better talent and why he's the RB1 hands down heading into the 2021 season.
The click bait title asking who is the Rams RB1 vs RB2? is simply silly.
Henderson was in his second year and Akers was the rookie.
Henderson got out of the gate in a hurry as a sophomore and many of us were gravitated to him for it.
Darrell Henderson rookie stats 2019Games 13, ATT 39, YDS 147, AVG 3.8, Longest run 22, TD's 0, REC 4,YDS 37, LNG 14, TD 0
Darrell Henderson final stats 2020Games 15, ATT 138, YDS 624, AVG 4.5, Longest run 40, TD's 5, REC 16, YDS 159, LNG 28, TD 1
Only one year of data for Akers. His single season showed most of us why he's on different level than Henderson.
Darrell Henderson Career Stats (2 seasons)
Games 28, ATT 177, YDS 771, AVG 4.4, TD's 5, REC 20, YDS 196, TD's 1
Cam Akers Career Stats (1 season)
Games 13, ATT 145, YDS 625, AVG 4.3, TD's 2, REC 11, YDS 123, TD's 1
Unless Akers goes gets hurt and misses several games, there is little doubt he will be the bell cow and Henderson will be RB2.
The eyeball test showed Akers is a different animal. Henderson is not to be taken lightly but speculating on who's RB1 & RB2 was more of an early June article to get fans reactions.
Here we are reacting the article so I guess it worked.
I'm still a big fan Henderson but Akers has a different skill set and looks a level above.
I'm looking forward to comparing RB1 Cam's first 2 seasons vs RB2 Henderson's.
