The one thing your mocks accentuate for me is the genuine needs at several positions this draft can't answer. Do you think they are targeting camp cuts from other teams this summer? FA fills next year? Does the UDFA pool this team is really good at developing have some of the answers in this crazy draft?
One thing we can say about this personnel group--or at least, the way it was before Holmes and Agnew left---is that they had a way of looking for everything. They don't short-change any part of the acquisition process.
Not just draft picks, but trades, big and small. (Ramsey, Corbett.)
And UDFAs. (Fox.)
And "ronin" (young vets cut by other teams). (D.Williams.)
And bargain FAs--not just the splashy big market FAs. (Wolford.)
But whoever they get this year in terms of these more obscure ways of finding players will probably not have an impact in 2021. The UDFAs and "ronin" who will fill in this year were acquired last year or the year before. Some of those guys have to rotate up.
