That 1984 Rams-Giants game had lots of weird stuff happen. The three safeties in the third quarter have already been mentioned. There was a delay in that game when one of the goal posts fell down. I never heard of that happening in any other game. That game also had a bizarre start. The Rams let the opening kickoff bounce into the end zone, where the Giants fell on it for a TD. I don't remember when the rule was changed to start the clock when a kickoff is returned. If that rule was in place by that game, the score would have occurred with no time gone off the game clock! In other words, it would have been the fastest score in NFL history. Even without that rule, it may have been the quickest TD ever since a kickoff return would take more time off the clock. A Rams fan wouldn't tend to have a good feeling after such a start, but the Rams ended up winning that game 33-12 despite the bad start. Unfortunately, the historic season by Eric Dickerson came to an end when the Rams lost a rematch of that game with the Giants at home in the playoffs. One of the most disappointing Rams playoff losses for me. I would compare it with the losses to the Falcons in 2017 and the Panthers in 2003. Going into each of those home playoff games, I thought the Rams should come out with a victory. Of course, there were even worse Rams playoff losses in the 1970s.
