I think Burgess will play that role at times for sure. Johnson did and Burgess is in his mold. I'm also not sure Long plays in the slot. Seems to me in his limited playing time (225 snaps over the past two years) it's almost always been outside. And that's fine since Ramsey will come inside sometimes too. And then you have Rapp, etc. Just may not end up with one pure nickel/slot CB like they had with NRC.
I don't fault Long for not playing more to this point given what the Rams have had in the secondary. But the time is now for him.
Decent slot CB and still available in FA. Shouldn't cost much.
I think Rams want better than decent, BigGame. And less expensively than Poole.
Frankly, I suspect that our limited FA dollars are down to C and maybe a few other minor moves.
