Well, let’s talk about that ‘4 starters’ lost on D, F79.
JJ. Truly a loss but one that’s been anticipated for about 2 years. Rapp or one of several others are waiting in the wings to pair with Fuller at Safety. Our cupboard at S is hardly bare.
Troy Hill. I honestly think Burgess will be an upgrade over Hill at nickel. So there’s no real loss there as a starter at all. If anything I see a net gain.
Ebu. Not a significant loss here whatsoever. Some combo of Hollins, Obo, Lewis, draft pick, or 2nd tier FA will replace Ebu with no problem. In fact, Ebu was already seeing his snaps reduced as the season wore on because the youngsters were outplaying him.
Brockers. Was almost redundant on that DL last season. I thought Fox had a better year, tbh. Rams DL is deep with good quality since they’ve been planning ahead there, too.
Now, here’s some good news. Howard is being penciled in as a starting ILB this season. Woulda been a starter last year but for his injury. So, one could say that we’re only gonna have a net loss of 3 starters vs last year of which only JJ is a significant loss.
