Some years there's 35 or so 1st round talents so being at the top of round 2 is great.
Some years there's 25 or so 1st round talents, so being at the bottom of the 1st means you'll be selecting a 2nd round talent.
From what I'm reading and hearing it's probably the latter. Doesn't mean it's a bad draft. It's just that the more elite 1st round type talent is a bit less apparent this year. Some of it might be the lack of playing time due to Covid. Unless a team from around 25 onward is in love with someone, they probably try to move out of the 1st round..... or use that pick to move way up.
Not a bad pick for the Rams NOT to have this year. In fact, that's the thing about being a playoff team each year. Trading a 1st rounder isn't the same as trading a first if you are regularly in the top half of the draft order.
