I'm not saying they should. I'm just saying IF they want to go the way of signing a modest priced FA center with some starting experience he fits that category (the other two don't) and has played well overall recently.
Admittedly I know basically zero about what style of center he is, if he's stronger and more physical than Blythe or not, etc. I'd love to draft a center in April but that is a tough position to HAVE TO go get when you don't pick until 57th. A veteran like that might give them some flexibility in that if they can't get a guy they want in April he can start and if they do he could be a valuable interior backup. Shatley made $1.5M in 2020 so maybe, say, a two-year, $4Mish deal would be attractive to him.
It will be interesting to see what the market is (or is not) for Blythe.
I get it. I like Ben Garland for the same purpose. Cheap vets that can start.
But if Shatley is getting $2M per year, Blythe can't be worth much more.
