Seems like some posters - after watching last night's game - think we are doomed next year because we changed QB's, kept our lousy O-line and will surely crash and burn.
I had much different takeaways from the game.
1. The Bucs O-line played well, and they were one of the better lines in the league - but we were ranked 2 spots above them in the PFF rankings. Our O-line is at least as good as theirs.
2. A pocket passer who sees the whole field, processes quickly, and gets the ball out quickly and decisively when necessary - can make an O-line look better and win the SB still. Hopefully this is where Stafford will be superior to Goff.
3. A balanced attack with a strong running game also helps. (Hello Reid and Bienemy - maybe don't throw it every down when you have a guard playing tackle)
4. A good defense that can create pressure without blitzing, and has a good coverage gameplan can still destroy all the offensive fireworks in the world. See what Spags did to the 18-0 Pats years ago.
5. This was one game. I wouldn't take it as 'the new normal' - last year the 49'ers had a solid NFL QB (ala Goff) and very good defense and running game and still lost to this Chiefs team. So from that game you could say you need a Patrick Mahomes clone to win.
6. The Chiefs defense was exposed. Lack of pass rush, poor tackling, mistakes and penalties. Kind of looked like the 2018 Chiefs all over again.
7. All the deep speed in the world - Tyreek Hill - won't help you when the other team uses coverages to take it away. It looked like Boles put all his eggs in taking away Kelce and Hill and it really seemed to disrupt Mahomes.
