No body gets a pass if he was our QB and we lost like that we would be focusing on the terrible passes he threw that had nothing to do with the protection.
If the protection is consistently bad, the qb is off his game. Timing isn't there, confidence isn't there, he's pressing to make plays under tough circumstances.
That IS what a qb looks like--virtually any qb--when the OL is an injury-replacement mess against a tough D.
Here are some favorite tweets from tonight's game.
Bucky Brooks@BuckyBrooksThis looks like Mahomes’ Texas Tech tape with him running around like crazy. The Chiefs’ O-Line issues kept from getting comfortable in the pocket.. It’s crazy to watch
Mina Kimes@minakimesfinal tally, via @ESPNStatsInfo:
Mahomes was pressured on 29/56 dropbacks–the most of any QB in Super Bowl history.
Brady was pressured on 4/30–the lowest of his SB career.
Peter Schrager@PSchragsAnd this likely won’t go over well with my Chiefs fan followers, but it’s how I see it.
Injuries to the offensive line played a bigger role than the officiating tonight.
PM15 was under pressure, uncomfortable, and running for his life all game long.
Brian Baldinger@BaldyNFLShaq v a patchwork OL. It’s a big deal
Geoff Schwartz@geoffschwartzThe Chiefs first drive showed you how worried they were about the OL. Quick passes. RPOs. Mahomes getting rid of it/leaving pocket quickly.
