It's like I'm watching 2 different QB's.
Something went south with Goff, I don't know exactly what it was but it's pretty obvious he's not the same QB.
Maybe losing #30 had A LOT to do with it.
Lots of things, and I'm not a big believer in the theory this is all on Goff..... losing Gurley completely changed the way defenses had to prepare for us, losing Saffold and Sully in the middle of the OL was another huge blow, obviously Goff had no issues going deep and was one of the best at it in 2017-2018 when he had guys who could separate and take the top off the defense, losing that also made it easier for defense to defend us.... QB starts taking more hits, loses confidence and guys aren't open like they use to be will have an affect. This is the ultimate team game and it's pretty clear this just isn't the same team we had back then. It isn't hard to go back and watch the games where Goff played poorly and you'll see an OL getting dominated most of the time....he isn't Mahomes, never was never will be, he's a dying breed pocket passer.....keep him clean he will dice you up, but knock him off that spot he isn't going to outrun many defenders...you can see a shift in the NFL and as OL's deteriorated over time it's easier to fix that issue by having a QB who is mobile than try to depend on five guys up front I guess.
It sure was fun while it lasted though..... I think Homes will be smart enough to know how to get the best out of Jared in Detroit (hint it all starts up front) and will be interesting to see how it plays out...wish nothing but the best for him there
