Before Gurley and Cooks, the team hasn't carried much dead cap space at all. That's because management has been pretty cautious on the guaranteed money front and when it comes to restructuring.

And perhaps most importantly, the Goff, Cooks and Gurley cap hits are a double-edged sword. Yes, these cap hits demonstrate the team rashly made big $$ deals with each of the players. But on the other hand, the team cut their losses when they had to. The team wisely did what others wouldn't in this situation — understanding what were sunk costs and doing what they could to minimize the error as soon as possible. I see that as GREAT cap management.
