I think the thing that has so many of us confused is this:
In '17 & '18 Goff was outstanding, leading us to the Super Bowl. The next 2 years he did not produce the same offensive numbers, though his numbers really aren't as bad as we might think. It seems generally agreed that we need better play from him to return to the Super Bowl. Lesser QB's have reached the Super Bowl because they had talented teammates. It's been pointed out that Goff has lost a lot of supporting talent. Yet the team seems to be taking the tactic that instead of upgrading the other players we should subtract the QB.
They may be right, we won't know until it happens, but the whole thing is a head scratcher in many ways.
While it's true that lesser QBs have won the SB because of talented teammates, those lesser QBs are not generally contending for Super Bowls year in and year out.
I think that's the Rams goal.
