I don't buy the idea that this kind of thing must always be handled in private. I'm not against a coach calling out a player in public, depending on the circumstance.
But if the idea is to trade him, then it hurts their position to come out and publicly make it known they're ready to move on.
They've boxed themselves in.
At first I thought there was a chance they bring in competition; maybe this was just a motivational ploy.
But now? After everything that has transpired, and how quickly the smoke has turned into an inferno, I don't see how they can do that.
I think that bridge has been burned.
