True, true. We get so caught up in the stats of the "skill position" players it's easy to forget that no one makes plays when they're flat on their back.
It's a good question whether the team has neglected the OL. The past three drafts we've spent 2-3's, a 4, 5, 6, and 7 on our OL, along with vet free agents and a trade. Not extravagant, (6 out of 28 picks) but not entirely neglectful either. Oddly, of those 6 draft picks, only one is a starter. (Edwards - 5th round) Three of our other starters began their careers on another team. The 5th was a Snead choice, but pre-dates this coaching staff. (Havenstein) This suggests to me we might need to either do a better job of drafting, or of development.
Regardless, we need to improve the middle of our line. Our starting 3 average 304 lbs. and don't hold up to bigger defensive lines. I believe Collinsworth mentioned this during one of our games. (vs the 49ers?).
