It is a strange rule but it's been around forever it is usually when guys are trying to stretch out as far as they can to reach pylon and may accidentally lose control of the ball remember Todd Gurley a few years back. They may try to get that little tom brady edge and let that ball slip out just enough to hit that pylon for that td. That to me is the only reason I could see it.

  Cost us the Seattle game in 2017 when TG fumbled. I actually have no problem with the rule.
