Even if the 2021 cap wasn't going down giving Floyd the $13-14M/year deal we he will command would be a big challenge. Rams need to draft an edge rusher high, let Floyd go and take the 4th round 2022 comp. pick.
One thing that MIGHT work in Rams favor is that other teams might similarly be pinched capwise. IOW, it might just be that even top FA’s will face a buyers market. In such a case, Floyd might accept a 1 year affordable extension with incentives and hope for a more normal cap situation in ‘22 for his big 5 year contract bonanza.
At least it would buy us a year of his services.
