First, if Wolford starts breaking tackles I don't want him in there. The only contact he had today was when it was necessary. I don't care how well he can break a tackles... ALL QB's run in space... it's knowing when and where... Wolford knows, Goff doesn't.
Scheming for Wolford... nothing new there. About all I can say about that is they have a hell of a lot more tape on Goff than Wolford. Are you saying Pete is only a defensive genius when Wolford plays?
It IS one game... and I'm actually NOT saying start Wolford over Goff, (if Goff is healthy), your just not liking me mentioning the 'good' and 'new' I see with Wolford... but there is a scale that I think is WAY closer than you do when you put their 'benefits' against one another. I do NOT think Wolford is as good on the short passes, (but it was ONE game). I think it's a split, no winner, on the deep stuff other than Wolford will go deep and right now Goff won't.. he has in the past, that's not today. Woldford IMHO, one game or not, brings FAR more energy, (not desire), the ability to shake pressure, more options the opposing D has to consider. Goff by far did the most in getting us here, (that's no small thing and I'm ALL FOR honoring that fact) I think you're right that if Goff is at his best he's more likely to 'light it up' than Wolford.. probably by a good margin... I don't see that happening... Goff OR Wolford.
I don't think we need Goff OR Wolford to be elite.... we need them to keep the turnovers to as close to zero as possible, if not zero. - JamesJM
