Strange to type those words.
Not that I ever wanted to see Wolford starting for the Rams, mind you, but I was happy to see McVay choose him as Goff’s backup last September. There’s just something about the guy.
I’m not predicting any fairy tale reprise, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Wolford pleasantly surprise next Sunday. His O teammates might assume a ‘circle the wagons’ mentality and really raise their game to support the kid. Football is, after all, a game of emotional involvement.
Now...
Everybody’s talking about QB, but what about our RB situation? Brown will start, of course, but can Jones contribute enough to be a significant help? We’ll see.
And here’s hoping that McVay can pull a rabbit out of his hat, offensively. I recommend pulling out all the stops vs the Cards. Give other players their shot at being a hero. Rams may already be in the playoffs, but there’s nothing like victory momentum to close out season and enter the playoffs. Rams have nothing to lose and I prefer to see them going out with both six-guns blazing.
We are a crippled team on multiple levels beyond the injuries. But crippled teams, especially those with some talent, can be very dangerous teams, indeed. I’m no longer expecting much in the playoffs. My brain tells me that that would be foolish. But my heart tells me that it wants to see the Rams go for broke and slap a few teams around in the process, dammit!
