with 4 minutes, 2 time outs + the 2 minute warning isn't enough for Goff to lead us? I thought actually it was a God Send that Webster came up with the return at all when thinking about how poor our return game has been since game 1. Even with the penalty after Cam's great run we still had a great chance to finish off the game.
The killer of the game was Goff going deep 2x's in a row......don't mind the play call, but needing 4 yards on that 4th down it should have primary to get the 1st and continue the drive.....he blew it big time, he had options there and either disregarded them, over looked them or was determined to go to Everett at the snap.....that's what put the nail in the coffin for us....after a poorly played game overall we had a shot to squeak it out and he didn't follow through as IMO he needs to do.
He straight up needs to play at a higher level, looking for a punt returner to to it when the ST has sucked all season is kinda desperate for an excuse.....I was pumped after his return, Goff should have been able to take it from there.
Not the point at all Roman..... wouldn't have been in that spot if Webster simply runs by the punter and not right to him.
Why does this always have to go back to Goff when I'm talking about a punt return??? Sheesh
But, yeah, just blame everything on Goff if it makes you feel better
If you have game pass you should go back and watch it.... Goff was part of the problem but far from the only one. The throw to Everett was on target all he had to do was out jump the shorter DB and make the catch ...he got about six inches of vert on his attempt the only other open option on that play was Woods but the ball was already out by the time he broke free.
Imo, it never should have been Everet on that route, too bad they didn't put the rookie in for that play....he would have made that catch
But yes, Goff is the reason we lost.....makes it easy
