I thought he danced around the TG situation too much and has been way too easy on Goff. Thats what I loved about Spurrier when he Coached UF. He was not afraid to call you out or have you take a seat. Hell, my Brother and I witnessed him bench the ENTIRE starting O, around 1992, for just two plays. But the message was CLEAR and had instant positive results. Spurrier would also call out himself. McVay needs to stop the inconsistent crap that we are seeing.
Not sure Spurrier is a good example of how to handle NFL players. His schtick didn't go over too well with professionals.
But, as long as he doesn't go too overboard, McVay being less coddling to his players is probably a good thing. I mean, a first time HC doesn't have that kind of clout so I don't know the he could have realistically taken that kind of approach too much sooner but it seems that Mr. Nice Guy, buddy-buddy McVay has to say goodbye.
