Why does this have to be so complicated? Now they're going with a guy who imploded last year for the Bucs and was cut. They had a 'competition' and the guy - Liarm - who most everyone said was the best was sent away. Instead they went with the worst. Now they have the 2nd best from the competition - but he's not good enough either, apparently.
Really all this could have been avoided by clearing up a very small amount of cap space to keep GZ. This was a blind spot for McVay. Hopefully it doesn't wreak havoc on what is a pretty good season so far. Maybe lesson learned for 2021.
