He over thinks. I believe he should have a complete game plan to allow him to exploit the match-up and how that pans out and not fear switching up if conditions indicate that we try something else.
Its not just the QB that needs to understand what is happening on the field. It is the HC and the coordinators. We do not exploit our wins in the matchup column well we tend to persist with what we anticipate rather than what we are seeing.
