Rams Dolphins--Rams Pass Plays Part 1

November 03, 2020 12:52PM
Going to review all the Rams pass plays in this debacle. I want to get a feel for the story of the pass game as it developed by tracking coverage, etc. Got some of the first quarter done and will get back to it tomorrow. Wanted to post and see if you guys like it, have suggestions, etc.

If you disagree with my thoughts please let me know. I would appreciate a why you think differently with the feedback.

Included time stamps if you want to follow on gamepass.

Here are a couple snapshots I thought would add some value.

Play Pics

13:39 2/10
Empty Formation-Henderson Wide
WR Screen away from free rusher; line slide to side of screen
Wr screen to 3WR side; two inside WRs block
Tipped-could have been pick

13:35 3/10
Empty, 5 man rush, Cover1 man
Brown wide open short-Goff looking deep
Reynolds looks open to me
Throws to Kupp, Kupp got pushed off his route by DB, ball overthrown as result

8:11 1/10 (pic play 4)
4 man rush, Cover3 Robber coverage-robber to strong side.
Goff looks deep, side opposite where high safety started--but safety gets over in time
Goff has Woods wide open on the sideline but has a rusher in his face
Deep safety paying zero attention to the run

8:05 2/10
5 man rush, cover 0 look, dt drops in hook zone
Empty formation, motion shows man as safety runs w HB in motion
Goff throws to the side away from the free rusher; instant pass vs off coverage
Inaccurate throw low and behind. DEcent throw Kupp probably breaks a tackle and is gone.

7:27 3/9
5 man rush, 1 high safety
Empty, HB in motion followed by S--man tell
Cover1 Man coverage
Goff perfect throw, Woods great route--created yards of separation

6:13 2/4
5 man rush, 1 high Safety, Coverage Cover1 Man--CBs are in press
Motion TE, DB runs w TE-man tell; Everret(TE) offset line to create space
Jones good press on Kupp,
Pass tipped
McVay appears to be countering the man by trying to get the ball to playmakers short with space to run
Everret being shadowed by a CB, Higbee a lb.

6:06 3/4 (pic play 8)
6 man rush, mush front, showing Cover0
HB motion followed by DB
Rams run a WR screen, but this one is 3 yards downfield not on or behind the los
Setup perfectly to the trips side
Goff's throw is terrible--way behind Kupp--awful throw
Again throwing away from the free rusher
On the previous two 3rd downs Dolphins played Cover1 man, so this was a good adjustment by McVay.
