Picking up a contributing player is not forfeiting a draft pick.

Draft picks are poker chips that you use to get what you need.
Maybe you keep them; maybe you trade them. Whatever works best in the situation.
I really doubt the Rams make a move but not because they're worried about hanging onto draft picks. Rather the value/contribution quotient just may not be there.
