If memory serves me correctly McVay has always been "too cute," i.e. too elaborate, too tricksy, in calling offensive plays. It is a weakness. I've always wondered if that approach, that mentality, was one of the reasons he failed so terribly in the SB.
Don't get me wrong, he is clearly a superior coach, and clearly superior to Jeff Fisher, and I'm glad that he's our coach, but this one area has always seemed to hinder him.
