..like how McVay applied his system and drafted some talent to work with and got our offense from last to first in the first year.
Now, that rarely happens...so we need to give Staley a bit of room to do the same...but he CAN adapt to the talent or lack of it at certain positions by creating schemes that make the game easier for players that are of marginal talent. ...ie blitz more? simplify coverages?
I dunno defense stuff....but the equivalent of what McVay has done on offense. And then, STALEY needs to call a good game and THAT is it's own beast separate from scheme. a coach can have a great scheme and be a bad play-caller..and every permutation between. Heck, even McVay has bad games still but is getting more consistent this year. As for the Rams' defensive talent sans 2
(AD & Ramsey) of the BEST in the NFL...we need to get more help and it probably will not be until the draft OR..... FA unless they trade for a guy.
zn's right on the rookie EDGE guys that come into the NFL. So, imo....this defense is a test to how Staley can use what he has in a way that can be effective. We'll see.
