Was really surprised that we didn't take a shot at all last night. It seemed to be a continuation from last season.
I get that, in the 1st quarter (and parts of the 2nd), the flat was open. But once Dallas adjusted and started to make the field more compact, I thought McGoff would start to look over the top...at least once. But nope.
And no, I don't believe that Dallas front warranted so much respect as to restrict us to quick outs. At one point, I was actually questionning if DeMarcus Lawrence was still a Cowboy.
Maybe McVay didn't completely trust his O-line right off the bat?
Something to keep an eye on as I expect defenses to continue to try to compress the field against us...if we let them.
Surprisingly, last year the Rams ran more 7-step drop pass plays than any other team.
And they did take a shot or 2 yesterday (like the Jefferson play).
But I think they are playing it close to the chest. OLs did not get to practice like normal this summer, so you get the OL going by executing a short passing game.
As the season develops, I am betting, they do more deep passing. It's a matter of the OL cohering first.
