My guess is that this is a red shirt season for him. Maybe he gets on the field late this season.

I agree Maxie, but he was healthy last season, so I wonder what the issue really is with the knee? He could fight through it, however, to this point maybe surgery would be the best option. Maybe they are hoping he can play a few games and see how it works out.
