Suh-weet!
Really hoping that kid can stay healthy. If so, I think he's going to have an absolutely monster year.
Why do you say that? Not disagreeing, just curious.
.
Broadly speaking, there're three things LBs - any defender, really - might be asked to do: defend the run, defend the pass, rush the passer. The 1st and 3rd were Kiser's strengths in college; I think those are the two he'll be asked to do most this year; and I think he'll have
plenty of opportunity to make plays on both fronts. On that last point: we can expect teams, especially in the NFC West, to test the Rams run D early and often. AND there's a real question for the Rams about where the pass rush will come from, other than AD. Though little has been made of it, Kiser was a very effective inside pass rusher in college.
Marry that to his motor, which by all accounts revs high and is nonstop, and his attitude. I've watched a few interviews now and the kid strikes me as very smart, VERY motivated, very focused and diligent. The Cooper Kupp for LBs. And now we have AD highlighting him as one of two standouts. But I've been bullish on him for a while now.
He's missing two things: NFL experience and high-end athletic ability. But I think he has every thing else going in his favor, not least a scheme and role that play nicely to his strengths.
I think he'll be a very pleasant surprise to most fans.
