But not because of a protest that won't take place for another month.
Although a few of us will go to extrordinary lengths to ignore it, you simply can't escape the FACT that, by the end of this weekend, there will likely be
170K AMERICANS WHO HAVE DIED WITHIN THE PAST SIX MONTHS due to the pandemic.
Let that sink in.
Then consider that another
30K AMERICANS IS ESTIMATED TO DIE due to the pandemic before the kickoff of the regular season.
And taking things even a step further, there will likely be
A QUARTER OF A MILLION DEAD by the end of the year.
So, perhaps we can forgive those who declined to tune in to Hard Knocks because they might be distracted by the mere passing of their kin, friends, and colleagues. Or those who are concerned that their kin, friend, or colleague might be next. Or maybe some are more concerned about finding a job or putting food on the table?
Nah...who am I fooling?
It's clearly because NFL players wish to protest!
ETA: I'm unsure where the board moderators are with respect to pandemic comments. So this post may (or may not) result in me being banned. If it's the former...it's OK. I'm not hating on anybody. I'll just holla at you all come August 2021. By then, I hope that all this madness will be behind us.
