Yeah I read his comments the same way and it's understandable. Last season any early read to Cooks was a fraction of a second he would never get back, because Cooks was just not the same guy and hadn't been since the Super Bowl. And he got worse after the concussion.
And of course Cooks never did have a good catch radius to begin with either. So the guy we saw last year was a problem for this offense.
It does seem like the skill positions have enough talent this season though. They might need some time to settle in, however the primary factor will be that blocking up front. Block well for Akers and give Jared a better pocket (even just middle of the pack) and our offense should be recognizable again.
