Hoecht's versatility is his best skill @ this time. He is the only DL newcomer who appears to be able to play all three DL posts. The rest appear to be 3tech/5 tech's. Most likely Hoecht will fight to earn a roster spot behind Brockers or Donald. If I had to pick one it would be reserve 3 tech position.
Rams spent big on the DL in free agency this past off season when they signed two veteran starting DL'ers in Brockers & Robinson. The last time the Rams drafted a DL'er in the first or second days of the draft was back in 2014 when Aaron Donald was selected with the second 1st rd pick. Since then all their investments in the DL came in from the last day of the drafts.

This off season Rams signed four UDFA's including Hoecht. All of them are 3 & 5 tech types ....Eric Banks 6-5/270, Sam Renner 6-4/275, Jonah Williams 6-5/275. Not sure where the Rams top drafted defender Terrell Lewis 6-5/265 pounder will end up playing. He could still outgrow the OLB'er positions into a 5 tech DE.
