The Rams need to figure out their future left tackle in less than a year. This is a huge training camp for Noteboom. He needs a lot of reps at LT. Hopefully, his knee is ready to go because we need to see what we have in him. Evans and Edwards also need some looks there.
Free agency has quite a few good LTs if they get to the market. Nine starting LTs are up for free agency in 2021. It's a good class with Trent Williams, Bakhtairi, Taylor Decker, Taylor Moton, Cam Robinson, Dion Dawkins and Alejandro Villanueva. The have an estimated $50 million in cap space, so signing an outside free agent means Kupp or JJ3 are gone.
The Draft could be a place to look for a LT if Whitworth can play another year or Noteboom, Evans or Edwards can hold down the position for 2021. The Rams don't pick until the second round, so finding a LT there would be a very fortunate situation. Maybe they could trade up into the first round if the right guy was there for the picking, but that will take a lot of draft capital, which we're lacking.
I look at the roster going into training camp and even beyond this season. The biggest question marks are OL and LBs. I think the most impactful postion to fill in the near future is left tackle.
