It looked a thousand times better than the cartoon dude hiking the football that it replaced. So the whining we heard from the fan base was just that. That was one of the best rebrands in the game's history and it wasn't hard to see what an upgrade it was. The sales we've seen since are undoubtedly higher than they would have been had they never changed it.
The Rams' logo is a completely different deal.
But I do agree it's all about the sales. We're just gonna have to endure the "news at 5" logo on every football related broadcast and hope the team realizes it made a mistake.
