lets see if Kent Hill chimes in with a tweet
Pace played for the Rams from 97 through 2008--12 years. He went to 7 pro bowls and was all-pro 3 times. He was the left tackle of the most prolific offense in NFL history (cause as you know no one has duplicated 3 consecutive 500 point seasons).
Kent Hill was good, I liked him. He played for the Rams from 79 through 85--7 years. He made 5 pro bowls. He went to 1 superbowl.
Hill was good, as I said, but Pace is just at another level. He played LOT, which means he played on an island. He was part of a record-setting offense and went to 2 superbowls.
Saffold was aware of all this and asked OP if he could wear 76.
75? Hill knows he was good, but--I doubt he thinks of himself as being "ask if you want to wear my number" level good.
Besides, they retired # 75 in 2009. (Deacon Jones was 75, in case anyone doesn't remember.)
