The one thing that I like about Sloman is he seems to have nerves of steel, nothing fazes him and that is an excellent attribute for a kicker. Also Sloman had the best senior season of any kicker and was called upon to make of ton of big kicks for Miami of Ohio and IMO, that is what endured him to special teams Coach John Bonamego and now the Rams have three kickers coming from different backgrounds and may the best man win.
I like Sloman, however, I really believe Austin MacGinnis will be the winner when the dust settles. Hajrullahu is older (30) and it might be a tough adjustment with the hash marks and the goal posts being in the back of the end zone, although the field is longer in Canada. Sloman is a rookie and although I think has a fantastic temperament, his kickoffs could be his undoing. MacGinnis was very accurate at the University of Kentucky and has gone on to be very effective in two leagues, where the kicking mirrors the NFL. Although again, I love the Miami of Ohio connection with Sloman & McVay and if Sloman is truly improving year over year, he could be the last Sam standing.
