You are totally correct--they are one errant,bad throw from Garoppolo from winning the Super Bowl. However, history and data suggests that the whiners defensive performance of last year is not sustainable. And almost never repeats year on year.
Variables will change next year for the whiners--they will be the hunted, and their defensive contribution to winning will lessen. As always, the qb will decide how far they go. As with the Rams, the league will catch on to Shanahan's offense. And at a minimum, the defenses league wide should cause the whiners to have a lesser offensive output. With the Rams it was about the second half of the second season when the league really stifled the Rams offense.
So, as the Rams struggled mightily last year and the whiners thrived--my expectation is that both of those will even out some. The Rams will improve off of last year--less injuries, more oline consistency, more big plays, etc. Also, schedule will be a factor for both squads.
