Just need average. Playmakers get open faster and the Qb can control when he releases the ball. Proper coaching should allow you to isolate your weapons on the most favorable matchups. Average without a turnstile--thats the best case for oline. Running isnt about the oline its about how many defenders are in the box. Oline matters yes, but the key is running against fronts with a blocker advantage.
Pouring resources into the oline non stop is a waste. You are never going to pay 3 of the positions so the money you save using a draft pick there is minimal. Would prefer a recycle vets strategy while complementing with mid round picks.
I want to use my premium resources--money, draft capital--on positions that can be isolated for success. This limits the coaching/game plan advantage. Wrs and Coverage players all day. Belichick has proven you can scheme a fierce pass rush w 5 average players. The key is making the QB hold the ball as long as possible--that is coverage being superior to the weapons it faces.
With oline give me some talent and let my coaches do their job.
