The coach of our track team has done the exact same thing. We have suspended organized training until health officials (not politicians and businessmen) decide that it is safe. He even retracted our schedule because he didn't want us to have something that reminded us that we could be training because if even one person gets seriously ill or dies, it's not worth it you see? The point is why risk anything? For what?
The difference is that no one cares about a group of amateur and semi professional runners, but there is a lot of money in professional sports and that creates pressures at the expense of a lot of things including peoples' safety.
I mean, isn't the safest thing just to quarantine and not worry about training and technology?
Isn't it?
But there is a potential gold mine to be had from the television ratings if you can just get the games played.
