Re: After Cooks/Gurley, Will the Rams Manage the Salary Cap differently?

I have generally liked their pay to play scheme.

It has worked out pretty well for a while. Backloading was never what they wanted. Some of the ideology was to start normal, go higher, than lower, such as 10 11 12 11 10 etc.

Gurley and Cooks both got jacked with health concerns. There may be more to the story on both, but as far as performance goes it was health. One could argue both were a fluke, another could argue both were not surprises. So hopefully what they will do is:

Keep the same scheme of salaries, but change a few things. Take into account health issues such as past issues or in the case of Cook, look at the trends, smaller guys often do not last that long etc. So using better metrics for health risks etc need to happen. Also, do not extend early, it may save a little bit but the risk on the team completely then. Last, do not pay a RB a big contract.
