4.52 is still plenty fast.

No doubt about it.

But it seems to me that McVay really likes the "speed" guys. On more than a few occassions, I've heard him reference the type of speed you can "feel."

When McVay arrived, he drafted Josh Reynolds who also runs a 4.52 forty and was seen as a potential downfield threat. But that wasn't good enough becuase he made a deal for Sammy Watkins who runs sub-4.4.

Reynolds and his 4.52 forty was still on the roster when Sammy left. Not good enough...let's trade for Brandin Cooks and his 4.3 forty.

Now truth be told, both Sammy Watkins and Brandin Cooks are far superior WR's to Josh Reynolds. But even when Cooks got injured, Reynolds didn't seem to be used as a deep threat. I get that there might be more to stretching out a defense than just pure speed. And maybe Pittman has that element where Reynolds doesn't. But pure speed...is pure speed and it seems that this is what McVay covets most to make his offense run the way he'd like.

I hope I'm wrong as, like I said...I really like Pittman and think that he'd give our offense another dimension - especially in the red zone.
