But my point is that they remain unproven as starters right now. As just one example, why is it that nobody could replace Matthews as starter even late in the season. I thought Matthews was a liability in run D and his sacks early on were largely because other players flushed the QB into his arms. Late in the season he seemed a non-threat in QB pressures, just clearly past his magnificent prime.

And yet Wade STILL didn’t see fit to put in Ebu, Obo, Polite, or Patrick ahead of Matthews in the rotation. I have to ask myself why is that? Was it a Wade blind spot? Or were the ‘candidates’ all deemed unworthy? And if they were unworthy in late ‘!9, why the heck should we feel confident that they are worthy quality starters in ‘20?

For those reasons I see Edge as a position that probably needs a quality infusion in this draft. One of 3-4 other such positions.
