Mock draft Mania - Night 1 - Explosive Playmakers Only Draft

April 13, 2020 03:26PM
So I thought this might be fun, since everyone is stuck at home, to do 10 nights of mock drafts. Something to read, something to kill time. something to think about. But not to take serious. No one would ever do a draft like any of the first 8 for sure. Anyhow, if you guys like, throw out your own, comment, whatever. Its for fun. No wrong answers in these.

Heres the lineup:

Monday 13th - Explosive Playmakers Draft - no offensive lineman, no plodders, no kickers. Just fast, explosive playmakers. Think Al Davis
Tuesday 14th - Power Draft - just the opposite - you want big, strong powerful players, this is your draft. Think the Anti-Al Davis
Wednesday 15th - Offense Only Draft - so nothing on D or STs
Thursday 16th - In the Trenches Draft - O and D line only, maybe a TE (but he has to be a good blocker)
Friday 17th - Defense Only Draft - so no offense or ST
Saturday 18th - Injury Risk Galore Draft - Only guys that currently or have had injuries in college
Sunday 19th - Where Is That Again Draft - Smaller schools only
Monday 20th - Rams are in Rebuild Mode Draft - Yup, Rams decide to blow it up and start all over. Should be interesting.
Tuesday 21st - What Would I Do Draft - This is usually part of my mock 3.0, but I will throw it out here. Its what I would do.
Wednesday 22nd - Deadpool's Mock Draft 3.0 - My final mock of 2020. Plenty of explanation.

No real rules here, I will try and not use the same guys over and over again, but there will be some crossover I'm sure. I won't so trades except in the Rebuild and What I would Do drafts, and some of these guys will be stretches, but within a round of where I think they should go.

With that said:

The Explosive Playmakers Draft.
These guys can all run, hit and generally make plays on the ball or with the ball. You won't see an OL, a NT, a FB or an inline TE.

52. Jalen Reagor - WR - Arizona State - 5'-11' 206 lbs. - He's a jittery HR hitter that is electric deep or in the open field. His hands are iffy IMO, or he'd be higher on my list. Supposedly ran a 4.22/4.28 at a solo pro day a few days ago. He can fly.

57. Kyle Dugger - S - Lenoir-Rhyne - 6'-1" 217 lbs. - Small school kid. Great size and athletic profile that can play free or strong. Excellent blitzer and played really well at the Senior Bowl. Will need some coaching.

84. Akeem Davis-Gaither - LB - Appalachian St. - 6'-2" 224 lbs. - Highly productive WILL that plays fast, can cover and rush the QB. I like him outside in a 43, but maybe a MO in a 34...In other words, an explosive playmaker that is versatile.

104. Antonio Gibson - RB - Memphis - 6'-1" 223 lbs. - A wr/rb/do it all back with home run ability. Elusive with a bit of power. A jack of all trades, master of none. Ran a 4.39 at the combine just for good measure.

126. Willie Gay Jr. - LB - Miss. St. - 6'-2" 243 lbs. - Athletic and quick, will pop you in the mouth. And he did punch his own QB in the face, so there is that. Could be a 3 down ILBer with some seasoning. Explosive on and off the field, double bonus. lol

199. Daulton Keene - TE - Virginia Tech - 6'-4" 240 lbs. - A twitchy athlete that lined up all over. He can take it to the house and has to be accounted for. H back for McVays newly revamped O.

234. John Reid - CB - Penn State - 5'-10" 180 lbs. - A slot CB with legit 4.4 speed and 7 career ints. - He can slide right in that slot CB spot in a year.

So the Rams just got a heck of a lot faster and added plenty of playmaking on both sides of the ball. Who needs lineman anyways?
