True, but Hicks and Mack (especially) aren't chopped liver.

That was originally my thinking but Deadpool and a chat he had with his Chicago Bears friend changed my mind.
Basically the gist was that Mack is so extremely good at rushing the passer that they asked Floyd to not rush on many of his snaps. He was the read and react guy where he's playing the run.
Also, Mack as great as he is, can't possibly open up one on one opportunities like AD because he's an edge player not IDL. It's much easier to double and triple the interior DL players than it is to get a triple team on an edge player.
So add all that up and Mack's not the same as AD as far as creating opportunities for others. In fact, he may have had a taking away opportunities affect on Floyd. The context with those nuances have to be considered not just how great an individual player is.
