He took 'bias' to an entirely new level. EVERY thing that went against the Niners, be it a play, a penalty, whatever, was ATROCIOUS and not the Niner's fault. He was SO over the top that I actually enjoyed listening to him.

Well back then uniforms were pretty plain, no where near as gaudy as even today, (although I know many of you will not see today's uniforms as gaudy)... that's just the way it was.

Well one particular game he was NOT expecting the Rams... and what they brought to the game. Ram's are innovators, we all know that.

Lon was in his pre-game spiel.. lauding the Niners, tearing down the Rams, when he just stopped for moment, it was quite noticeable. A couple moments of silence went by and then (paraphrased) he continued in this manner: (And note, I can't remember his color man's name so I'm going to call him John for this retelling)...

"JOHN...(pause), JOHN... (another short pause).... Are they........... can they be....... Oh I can't believe this.... MY GOD, John. THEY'RE WEARING BLUE SHOES!!!! THE RAMS ARE WEARING BLUE SHOES"...

Lon never could get it together after noticing that... not for the rest of the broadcast... most of his comments during the game stated the play that just took place BUT would always come back around to those "OH MY GOD BLUE SHOES".

Seriously... it's up there with the Miracle On Ice call IMHO.
