Here's my 2 cents.............
McVay wants to "revamp" his offense with O'Connell and blend each others ideas together. Also, we all know McVay and offense. He wants to know and speak the language "BEFORE" training camp. McVay also wants to SCORE POINTS, so O"Connell and McVay need to know how to talk to each other and make changes on the fly. McVay won't sleep until his offense is a fine tuned machine.
As for Staley's Defense.............McVay wants to know it inside and out. Our HC does not want a repeat performance. He wants our defense to STOP THE RUN and not give up tons of points. Thus, McVay is "fixing" the defense with Staley and making sure that the guy the Rams hired "IMPROVES"the defense so it becomes a better overall unit with the new guy in charge. Simple, no more 40+ point blow outs!!!!!
